Dedicated. Fair. Exceptional.
These are just some of the words to describe former Ohio Deferred Compensation Board member Sharon Downs, who passed away April 19 following a battle with cancer.
“Sharon was an exceptional person and exceptional Board member. She was very thoughtful and dedicated, demonstrating both knowledge and wisdom,” said Keith Overly, executive director, Ohio Deferred Compensation. “She always put participants first and her longstanding service and leadership were instrumental in transforming the Program into one of the largest and best public sector supplemental retirement plans. She will be missed.”

She served in various leadership capacities, including Board chair and vice chair; chair and vice chair of Personnel and Salary Review Committee Review Committee; vice chair of the Audit Committee; chair of the Steering Committee; and chair of the Unforeseeable Emergency Appeals Committee.
“Sharon was always prepared and ready for each Board meeting,” said Cindy Ward, executive assistant, Ohio Deferred Compensation. “She is someone we could always count on.”
